Fiber is one of the most searched diet topics in IBD. During flares, many clinicians suggest lower-fiber textures temporarily. In remission, gradual fiber from oats, peeled fruits, or well-cooked vegetables supports gut health for many patients.
Flare vs remission
Active symptoms: white rice, refined pasta, peeled potatoes, and smooth soups are common go-tos. Improving symptoms: reintroduce fiber slowly with professional guidance.
Strictures and fiber
If you have a known narrowing (stricture), high-fiber or raw roughage may need special avoidance. Your GI team knows your imaging and surgical history.
