IBD affects more than the digestive tract. The ImproveCareNow Lifestyle and IBD web toolkit is ICN's most expansive Patient Advisory Council education resource: interactive, web-based, and co-produced with patients, parents, dietitians, and psychosocial professionals.

Six topic areas

  • Mental health: resilience, self-care, stigma, caregivers, and finding providers
  • Treatment: surgery, procedures, medications, and infection prevention
  • Diet: general guidance, supplements, and food insecurity perspectives
  • Exercise: athletics, patient stories, and activity after surgery
  • Social life: relationships, dating, body image, and identity
  • Management: medication reminders, apps, and procedure tips

Why it is different

Unlike PDF handouts alone, this toolkit links patient narratives with professional insights across everyday life domains. ICN hopes it inspires whole-person conversations in clinic and helps patients who feel unseen find validating stories.
