Visit-prep traffic shows people want clearer clinic logistics. Colonoscopy prep is one of the highest-anxiety steps after diagnosis or during monitoring. Your center's written instructions win over any blog. Use this checklist to ask better questions beforehand.
Before prep week
- Confirm whether to hold iron, blood thinners, or GLP-1 medicines
- Ask how biologics, steroids, and immunosuppressants fit the schedule
- Arrange a ride home if you will receive sedation
- Stock clear liquids your team allows and oral rehydration fluids
Pair this with visit prep and lab basics.
During prep
Follow split-dose timing if prescribed. Nausea is common; call the endoscopy line if you cannot keep the prep down. People with strictures or prior surgery may need a modified plan. Do not invent a "gentler" homemade prep.
After the scope
- Ask when pathology results will post to the portal
- Clarify activity restrictions for 24 hours after sedation
- Report heavy bleeding, severe pain, or fever promptly
